This past winter seemed longer than usual; homeschooling and having to be home all the time will give you that feeling. We’ve been desperately looking forward to spring and its promise of lightness! Better weather and more covid-19 vaccinations should hopefully help us get closer to seeing the end of this horrid pandemic. This is also a good time to refresh our skincare routines for the new season.
What Can We Do To Spruce Up Our Routines?
Become more vigilant with using your SPF
While you should wear SPF year-round, we tend to spend a lot more time outdoors in the spring than the winter, so you will need to be more diligent about protecting your skin. Our Brightening Moisturizer SPF 30 is a perfect 3-in-1 product with a combination of nourishing moisturizers, vitamin C to brighten, and broad spectrum sun protection.
Exfoliate!
You’re probably beginning to hear this Bolden chant in your head, but it is for a very good reason. Exfoliating is an important step for cell renewal, it breaks down all the dead skin build up from the cold winter and the forced heat we used to keep warm. Since the face always remains exposed, harsh environmental conditions such as extreme heat or cold is borne by the face. Here at Bolden we love glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) derived from cane sugar. It has the smallest molecules in the AHA group and so is able to penetrate the skin deeply and easily, making it the most effective for erasing dullness and dark spots. It is a key ingredient in our best-selling Brightening Toner and Nighttime Serum.
Get a new collection of protective face masks
Changing out of face masks should be a daily occurrence whether wearing the disposable kind or a reusable cloth one. For those of us using reusable ones, the wear and tear from daily use may have us wondering when to replace them. As cloth masks become a little less effective with each wash, spring season is as good a time as any to examine them to determine which ones need to be replaced.
Clean out your make-up bag and get rid old make-up
Aside from changing your skincare routine, we also recommend that you look into your beauty bag and see what cosmetics you haven’t used in a long while. That mascara from from 2 summers ago is probably way past its use by date.
On the subject of new products to include in your spring skincare regime, check out Bolden’s iconic Shea Oil. It’s a multi-purpose product: makeup remover, cleansing oil, and moisturizer (available in unscented and sweet vanilla which smells delicious) all while improving the texture of your skin. It is a perfect face oil addition to your nighttime routine and can be layered last, after other treatments and serums have been applied.
