Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

Do you love romance? We live for it! With it being Black History Month, we have a treasure trove of classic romance movies with Black lead characters. If you haven’t seen any of these, add them to your movie lineup for the weekend. You’ll be glad you did! 

Boomerang
This will have you in stitches! Grace Jones as Strangé is pure comedy. However, the chemistry between Eddie Murphy and Halle Berry is so powerful and ultimately makes this a true love story. Be sure to check out Lena Waithe’s take on Boomerang in the new series on BET. We haven’t seen it but hear it’s a win!

Love Jones
It doesn’t get better than this! Poetry, love, angst, heat! Larenz Tate and Nia Long are magic together. You’ll seriously fall in love with this movie.

Mississippi Masala
This is a forbidden love story and the chemistry between Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury is off the charts!

Brown Sugar
This movie explores the classic best friends to lovers theme and does it really well. The love and attraction between Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs has been slowly building over the years. It eventually explodes!

Love & Basketball 
Another angsty friends to lovers theme (we do love this storyline; how do you preserve a good friendship while also dealing with a scorching attraction and blooming love?). Sanaa Lathan does it again! This time with Omar Epps. He plays a brooding love interest so well.
